Tuesday- Reader's minute. Complete the family heritage poster. Start the movie and review for Act I quiz.
Wednesday- Word of the week. Review for the Act one quiz and watch the movie.
Thursday- Words most often confused. Act I quiz. Recap power paragraph. Write one on your opinion of prearraged marriages.
Friday- Writing tip of the week and SSR. Pass out the study guides for Act II. Read the Act II prologue, scene 1, and scene 2. Update the study guide.
11th Grade English
Monday- Journal. Read chapter 1 and 2 with the purpose of updating your study guide.
Tuesday- Reader's minute. Read chapter 3 and 4 with the purpose of answering the questions from your study guide.
Wednesday- Word of the week. MOSAIC Day.
Thursday- Words most often confused. Read chapter 5 and 6 with the purpose of answering the study guide questions.

Agenda For Week Starting March 23rd, 2009
9th Grade English
Monday - Journal. Collect bell work. Read fun facts from Shakespeare's time. Read Act I prologue and scene 1, 2, and 3. Learn 6 column notes. Update the notes. Complete the take home quiz for homework. It is due tomorrow.
Tuesday - Reader's minute. Collect the take home quizzes. Finish reading and discussing scene 3. Complete the newspaper article assignment.
Wednesday - Word of the week. Read Act I Scenes 4 and 5. Introduce the poster assignment.
Thursday - Words most often confused. Complete the family heritage poster. Review for Act I quiz.
Friday - Writing tip of the week and SSR. Quiz on Act I. Collect 6-column notes.

Monday - Journal. Collect bell work. Fill out the anticipation guide and technology survey for "Frankenstein". Introduced the essential questions. Quick write on essential questions. Think / Pair / and Share the responses.
Tuesday - Reader's minute. Read p.7A-7D as background info on Mary Shelly. View the first six segments of "the great books: Mary Shelley". Assign letter for student to practice reading tonight, so they can read them tomorrow for extra credit.
Wednesday - Word of the week. Student will read the letters aloud. After each letter, do a 2-4 minute quick written response based on the questions from p.11 and 12 handout.

Agenda For Week Starting March 16th, 2009
9th Grade English
Monday- Journal entry. Read Shakespeare's biography as a class. Individually complete the questions 1-11. Read the prologue and disect the language. Complete the handout on the prologue together.
Tuesday- Word of the week. The students will read "The Year of Magical Thinking." Students need to read the article and write down examples of the traits of descriptive writing.
Wednesday- Reader's minute. Collect the descriptive writin piece. Further introduce Romeo and Juliet. Read p. 8 together, and the students will complete p. 9 with a partner. This is a handout.
Thursday- Words most often confused. Learned 6-column note taking. Started to read Act I Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet. Update the notes. For homework, complete the take home quiz.
Friday- Writing tip of the week and SSR. Collect the take home quiz. Complete the jigsaw activity to learn background information on Shakespear and the Elizabethen time period.

Tuesday- Reader's minute. Read "Darkness by Noon," and pick out the traits of a memoir. Recap "Freedom Writers," and identify the traits of a memoir. Write the final draft of your second memoir. It is due tomorrow.
Wednesday- Word of the week. Collect the second memoir. Learned the traits of descriptive writing. Read the article titled "The Polyphemus Moth," and pick out the descriptive traits.
Thursday- Words most often confused. Read "The Loophole of Retreat," and find the traits of descriptive writing. Introduce and start the life portrait assignment.
Friday- Writing tip of the week and SSR. Work on life portrait.
