Wednesday – Word of the week and grammar sentence. Vocabulary quiz on batch #1 of the "Lord of the Flies" vocabulary words. Review for next Tuesday's quiz on verbs.

Thursday – Words most often confused and grammar sentence. Pass out study guides for chapters 1-4. Read pages 7-28 with the purpose of answering the study guides.

Wednesday – Word of the week and grammar sentence. Complete adverbs and adjectives worksheet and / or watch the video.

Thursday – Words most often confused and grammar sentence. Passed back the essays and went over grammar mistakes.

11th Grade English Agenda For 9/05/11-9/09/11

Monday - No School.

Tuesday - Students will view my introductory power point. Complete the index card and introductory survey for 11th graders.

Wednesday - Students will go over the syllabus and get it signed by a parent or guardian. It should be returned to me by Friday. They will also share their responses to the introductory survey and turn it in to me.

Thursday - Write down 3-5 class rule suggestions. Finish class procedures and student introductions. Talk about the flipped high school theory. Take notes on the bell work philosophy.

Friday - Finalize class rules. Sign out the novel "Who moved my cheese?". Read up to page 60 and answer the following questions: While reading the book, what are 5 things that you learned about change? Who are you most like in "A Gathering" and why?

Monday – No School.
Tuesday – Journal entry and grammar sentence. Collected bell work. Reviewed for your midterm. You need to know the following:

1. Know the words most often confused from the second semester.
2. Know pronoun and antecedent agreement. Know the rules and how to apply them.
3. Know the “Pardoner’s Tale.”
4. Know the authors of all the stories that we have read in the second semester.
5. Know irony, first person point of view, third person point of view, autobiography, biography, Gothic genre, and memoir.
6. Know “Frankenstein.”
7. Know “Night”.

Wednesday – Word of the week and grammar sentence. Recap the last 30 pages of "Night." Read page 91-100 and update your study guide.

Thursday – Words most often confused and grammar sentence. Watch the pronoun and antecedent agreement video and complete the worksheets.

Tuesday - Reader's minute. Collected the quick write. Watched the prologue to the "Canterbury Tales" and completed a listening activity.

Wednesday - Word of the week. Finished the listening activity. Started a lesson on hyphens.

Thursday- Words most often confused. Finished the hyphens lesson and turned in the worksheet. Introduced the vocabulary words for "Pardoner's Tale." The quiz is next Thursday.
