11th Grade English Agenda For 9/26/11-9/30/11

Monday – Journal entry and grammar sentence. Collected you past two weeks of bell work. Finished recapping your grammar errors from your last essay. Continued survival activity.

Tuesday – Reader’s minute and grammar sentence. Finished the survival activity. Introduced the essential questions. Completed the anticipation guide. Passed back papers and went over the nouns quiz.

Wednesday – Word of the week and grammar sentence. Vocabulary quiz on batch #1 of the "Lord of the Flies" vocabulary words. Review for next Tuesday's quiz on verbs.

Thursday – Words most often confused and grammar sentence. Pass out study guides for chapters 1-4. Read pages 7-28 with the purpose of answering the study guides.

Friday – Writing tip, silent sustained reading, and grammar sentence. Recap yesterday's reading. Read page 29-39 and update your study guide.

Monday – Journal entry and grammar sentence. Collected essays, verbs viewer's guide, and nouns worksheet. Recapped for tomorrow's nouns quiz. Completed the verbs handout. Handed out adverbs and adjectives viewer's guides due Wednesday.

Tuesday – Reader’s minute and grammar sentence. Nouns quiz. Collected books and signed out "Lord of the Flies" novels. Introduced the vocabulary words and flip sheet studying technique.

Wednesday – Word of the week and grammar sentence. Complete adverbs and adjectives worksheet and / or watch the video.

Thursday – Words most often confused and grammar sentence. Passed back the essays and went over grammar mistakes.

Friday – Writing tip, silent sustained reading, and grammar sentence. Introduced the essential questions for LOTF. Completed the anticipation guide and group project.

Monday – Journal entry and grammar sentence. Finalize class rules and goals. Received viewers guide for nouns and verbs videos. Watch nouns1 and verbs1 on flippedhighschool.com Read up to page 60 and respond to the following: 1. What are 5 things that you have learned about change? 2. Who are you most like in "A Gathering" and why?

Tuesday – Reader’s minute and grammar sentence. Read the rest of the book. Start the handwriting on the wall assignment.

Wednesday – Word of the week and grammar sentence. Complete the nouns worksheet and/or watch the video on nouns.

Thursday – Words most often confused and grammar sentence. Collected handwriting on the wall essay. Complete the verbs worksheet and/or watch the video.

Friday – Writing tip, silent sustained reading, and grammar sentence. ACT English practice test.

11th Grade English Agenda For 9/05/11-9/09/11

Monday - No School.

Tuesday - Students will view my introductory power point. Complete the index card and introductory survey for 11th graders.

Wednesday - Students will go over the syllabus and get it signed by a parent or guardian. It should be returned to me by Friday. They will also share their responses to the introductory survey and turn it in to me.

Thursday - Write down 3-5 class rule suggestions. Finish class procedures and student introductions. Talk about the flipped high school theory. Take notes on the bell work philosophy.

Friday - Finalize class rules. Sign out the novel "Who moved my cheese?". Read up to page 60 and answer the following questions: While reading the book, what are 5 things that you learned about change? Who are you most like in "A Gathering" and why?
